החלטה לעלות לישראל או לשוב אליה לאחר שנים של מגורים בחו"ל כרוכה בשורה ארוכה של השלכות כלכליות ומיסויות. הדין הישראלי מעניק לעולים חדשים ולתושבים חוזרים שורה של הטבות מס משמעותיות, ובשנת 2026 הורחבו ההטבות באופן מהותי בעקבות חקיקת חוק עידוד עלייה לישראל וחזרה אליה (הוראת שעה), התשפ"ו–2026 ופרסום חוזר מס הכנסה 07/2026 של רשות המסים.
